The fast-acting sliding head is acme threaded to accommodate a cold-drawn steel screw with a large, easy-grip handle and swivel pad. The original multiple-disc-clutch design allows the sliding head to hold securely at any point along the bar. These clamps are available in a wide variety of sizes and clamping forces for light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty applications.
Founded in 1903 in the great city of Chicago, Pony Jorgensen created the first clamp made specifically for woodworking, the Jorgensen handscrew, which quickly became a staple among hobbyists and professionals alike. The Jorgensen Steel Bar Medium Duty Clamp Kit features a 2-1/2 inch throat depth, a maximum opening capacity of 6 inches and 12 inches, and a normal load limit of 600 lbs.
The sliding head design makes this style of clamp fast-acting, as the sliding head is threaded to accommodate the screw with a large, easy-grip handle and swivel pad. The multiple-disc-clutch design, consisting of hardened plated steel clutch discs and a spring, allows the sliding head to hold securely at any point along the bar. The steel bar is plated to be rust-resistant, and the iron castings have an orange baked enamel finish.
